Mirissa, as mentioned above, is found on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, It is the most immediate destination to the continental shelf as well as the migratory route of whales, previously for breeding, as they swim to the warm waters of Indian Ocean.

Travelling to MirissaHow to get there: Mirissa is a beautiful coastal village located between Galle and Matara on the south coast of Sri Lanka.It is a tourist hot spot and attracts whale visitors and beach fans from all over the world (coconut tree hill, secret beach, parrot rock). It is approximately 40 minutes' drive from Galle (a popular beach destination home to World Heritage Sites Galle Fort) and a 2 hour drive from Colombo (the capital, Sri Lanka's main gateway) using southern expressway .
Adventurous Boat RidesYour barge, boat or canoe will decrease its speed as well as it's engine's sound when reaching the region, whales are most seen. The canoe which carries you to the whale and dolphin territory safely is being stopped at a safe distance of nearly 300 feet. Your closest distance will be about 100 feet away for whale territory.
